Também célebre pelo seu nome em tibetano: “Chenrezig.” Trata-se do Bodhisattva da Compaixão e um dos Oito Grandes Oito Filhos Próximos – os oito grandes bodhisattvas. De entre estes, Avalokiteśvara é a essência da fala de todos os budas e a personificação da sua compaixão. É também considerado como o protetor do Tibete e do seu povo.
