Um dos quatro sistemas de princípios filosóficos budistas. Juntamente com a escola Vaibhāṣika, a escola Sautrāntika é considerada como pertencente ao Hinayana. Os sautrāntikas dividem-se em dois subgrupos: os sautrāntikas que seguem as escrituras (lung gi rjes 'brang) e os sautrāntikas que seguem o raciocínio (rigs kyi rjes 'brang). O primeiro grupo é bastante próximo dos vaibhāṣikas; o segundo está particularmente associado a Dharmakīrti e é notável pela sua elaborada epistemologia e lógica. É amplamente estudado e utilizado no Budismo tibetano. [IMW 2004].

One of the four systems of Buddhist tenets. Together with the Vaibhashika school, the Sautrantika is considered as belonging to the Hinayana. The Sautrantikas are divided into two subgroups: the Sautrāntikas following scripture (lung gi rjes 'brang) and the Sautrāntikas following reasoning (rigs kyi rjes 'brang). The former group is quite close in outlook to the Vaibhashikas; the latter is particularly associated with Dharmakirti and is remarkable for its elaborate epistemology and logic.
