Português:

quatro confianças, quatro apoios

Quatro Confianças são:
1) གང་ཟག་ལ་མི་རྟོན་ཆོས་ལ་རྟོན། Confiar nos ensinamentos, não na pessoa;
2) ཚིག་ལ་མི་རྟོན་དོན་ལ་རྟོན། Confiar no significado, não nas palavras;
3) དྲང་དོན་ལ་མི་རྟོན་ངེས་དོན་ལ་རྟོན། Confiar no sentido definitivo, não no sentido provisório;
4) རྣམ་ཤེས་མི་རྟོན་ཡེ་ཤེས་ལ་རྟོན། Confiar na sabedoria primordial, não na consciência [comum].

English:

four reliances, four points of reliance, four kinds of reliance, four supports

1) གང་ཟག་ལ་མི་རྟོན་ཆོས་ལ་རྟོན། relying on teachings and not on the person
2) ཚིག་ལ་མི་རྟོན་དོན་ལ་རྟོན། relying on meaning and not on the words
3) དྲང་དོན་ལ་མི་རྟོན་ངེས་དོན་ལ་རྟོན། relying on wisdom and not on an ordinary mind
4) རྣམ་ཤེས་མི་རྟོན་ཡེ་ཤེས་ལ་རྟོན། relying on definitive teachings and not on interpretive teachings.

These are: (1) reliance not on the person of the teacher but on the teaching; (2) reliance not on the mere words of the teaching but on its intended meaning; (3) reliance not on the expedient but on the definitive meaning; and (4) reliance not on intellectual understanding but on nonconceptual wisdom that sees the absolute truth directly.
